ELOI

The hammer fell, the spike went in.
He paid the price for all my sin.
He bore, for me, my guilt and shame
That I might bear, someday, His name.

He died for me, but not in vain
For in three days He rose again.
He took my sin and bore the pain,
But now the King will always reign.

For Him to die was meant to be,
And there He died to set me free
It is finished! His work was done
Upon the cross where he was hung.
"Eloi, Eloi" in pain He cried,
And then the precious Savior died.

From beginning until the end
I'll trust in Him, for He's my friend.
A greater love will never be.
"Eloi" He cried, in pain, for me.

A little while, and I will see
That precious Lamb who died for me.
He'll come to lead me home that day
And I'll shout Eloi on the way.

For Him to die was meant to be,
And there He died to set me free
It is finished! His work was done
Upon the cross where he was hung.
"Eloi, Eloi" in pain He cried,
And then the precious Savior died.
