Listen to hear the Grey
Wolf cry.
He's telling of a time
gone by.
He sings a song of
yesteryear,
That lonesome sound
that fills my ear.
The bison, elk, and
spotted owl
Pause when they hear
that mournful howl.
The Grey Wolf tells
about our land,
How it was made by
God's own hand;
How all things lived in
harmony,
'Til the greed of man
came to be.
Then greed took down
the buffalo,
Cherokee, and Arapaho.
He tells of land, no
longer free,
Where Brother Cougar
used to be.
The Grey Wolf howls a
mournful song
About a land, where all
belong.
He sings about a
Brotherhood
Where all have honor,
as they should.
Listen to hear the Grey
Wolf's song,
While we can still
correct the wrong.
Let's live together on
this land,
And give to all a
helping hand.
Take what we need from
shore to shore
Before the Grey Wolf
sings no more.
Before our age comes to
an end,
Let the Grey Wolf
become your friend.
He will sing his song
just for you.
He'll tell you things
you never knew.
You see, I listened to
him, too.
I know what makes the
Grey Wolf blue.
